Improving productivity and quality in thick slab casting by direct control of FC Mold

In order optimize the casting process and to meet varying transient conditions, a new control tool for dosed loop on-line control has been developed, referred to as EM-Control. This device and the FC Mold will optimize the meniscus flow speed and simultaneously and independently minimize the penetration down of the metal jets from the nozzle, resulting in new levels of cast steel quality.
