Pilot and industrial scale assessment of the airtight EAF process

The current trend in EAF steelmaking is toward tighter operation (dosing the slag door as much as possible, improving the fume control, setting wall-fixed oxygen injectors...). Nevertheless, the requirements for operating in really airtight conditions are not gathered in industrial furnaces. The tools for reaching these airtight conditions are readily available (fixed injectors, post-combustion...). The carbometry is the suited tool for a quick and efficient tuning of the decarburization with fixed injectors and of the post-combustion practice.
