The thermal heterogeneities have their origin in the reheating furnaces. They are increased by the width reduction, especially if strips are wide. According to the surface temperature, coolings have the potential to degrade or to improve the thermal profile. On the run-out table, this amplification is increased when the coiling temperature decreases. In the furnace, means to preserve the thermal profile are the reduction of the space between slabs, the increase of the soaking time with the hot charging or a more powerful heating zone. On the run-out table, it is preferable to limit the hot shoulder before the entry on the ROT to a maximum fixed by the coiling temperature.
