The aim was to determine the effects of the association between ZnSO_4 and a new NO donor on some components of immune system after chronic exposure to ethanol for 14 days in laboratory animals. Leukocyte count, phagocytic capacity of peripheral neutrophils and serum complement activity were determined in rats. The effects were compared with those of immunomodulatory doses of levamisole (non-selective immunomodulatory drug). Our derivative induced suppressing effect on some cellular components of immune system and presented anti-inflammatory effects. This study may contribute to the development of a new group of NSAIDs, with immunomodulatory activity, with other adverse effects than those used in therapy, but with possible beneficial effect for atopic patients.
