Ballistic tests were conducted at DRDC Valcartier to study the effects of scaled shaped charges on behind-armour debris. Three scaled shaped charges were studied with copper cone liners of 40, 60 and 80 mm diameter. These shaped charges were tested at a normal impact angle using witness packs located 600 mm behind RHA (Rolled Homogenous Armour) targets of different thicknesses. The results show that the number of fragments recorded is proportional to jet diameter to the power 1.62. The behind-armour fragment distribution, mass and velocity are also presented in this paper according to the scaled shaped charge.
