Computers In Libraries 2004-Session B303: Technology: Remote User's Best Friend

Why is technology a remote library user's best friend? The short answer is because remote users rely on technology to get answers to their questions. Technology, after all, is the vehicle by which information professionals satisfy a remote user's information need. The long answer, however, is the sum of what I've learned serving over 300 remote users for the past five years and the subject of this presentation. Information professionals have at their disposal a host of devices to communicate with remote users, from U.S. mail to video conferencing, so many options that conferences like Computers in Libraries exist to help us keep up with the latest technologies. But how do we choose the right one?
