An experimental program was conducted to assess the in-plane seismic shear performance of an innovative structural watt system, fill-scale wall specimens constructed of Thastyron panels and cast-in-place concrete core mesh reinforced with steel were tested under cyclic lateral loading. In addition, supplementary out-of-plane static monotonic loading tests were conducted to assess the performance of the walls under flexure. The specimens were extensively instrumented to measure the strain in the reinforcement and the deformation of the walls. Test observations demonstrated a superior performance of this innovative wall system in comparison with the performance of commonly used wall types made of plywood panels, masonry bricks or tilt-up concrete panels.
