The studied device is a vibrating beam sensor cell made of quartz material. The idea explored in this paper is to use actuating electrodes which are conveniently located, with an original optimization approach, on the device surface and deposited on the piezoelectric device. It is known that some surfaces can not be used for this purpose, because they are reserved to the electrodes necessary for the operation of the cell. So, a special actuating electrode configuration is used to make the control. It is assumed that the external solicitation is applied along the axis perpendicular to the sensitive axis and out of the device plane. So, the modes to be controlled are those corresponding to motion along this axis. A simple control strategy is applied : a "sky-hook" strategy.
