In this study a method is developed for a prediction of the dynamic behaviour of the sandwich plane structures. Simplified formulation of the constrained sandwich plate is adopted, complex mass and stiffness matrices are calculated and handled to extract the eigenfrequencies and theirs respective modal loss factors for a three-layer viscoelastically sandwiched plate. Finite element method with a simple element is used. The utility of this work is to treat the sandwich plane structures without having a special sandwich element, and by using any finite element program which initially not pre-disposed to calculate such complex structure. Then, to predicting the plane structures behaviour, only a classical quadrilateral shell element is needed in the plate case, and only a classical linear beam element is used in the beam case. Examples are shown successfully to validate this presented method in the plate case.
