This paper presents a procedure to identify the structural parameter values such as mass and stiffness of a mechanical structure from measured vibration properties (natural frequencies and modal vectors) and a method to improve the degree of convergence of the iterative process in this procedure. The proposed method uses the value which evaluates the degree of proportion between the experimental and the analytical modal vectors and is referred to as the Modal Assurance Criterion (MAC) in the field of the experimental modal analysis, as an evaluation function. This method is applied to a rigid body model and its effectiveness is demonstrated.
