A structural damage location procedure that does not require the use of an original analytical model is presented. The only information needed in the proposed procedure is pre- and post-damage experimentally measured structural modal parameters and eigenvector measurement connectivity. First, the pre-damage modal parameters are used to generate a baseline model of the pre-damage (healthy) structure. Then, the generated baseline model and the post-damage modal parameters are used in a previously developed damage location algorithm to determine the location of the damage. The characteristics of the proposed procedure are evaluated using both computer simulated and actual experimental data.
