This paper illustrates some preliminary results about the use of a laser scanning vibrometer to analyse human body vibrations. Some measurements were performed by a single point laser Doppler vibrometer in order to test the main advantages of this technique over the classical one. Some testing devices were developed and characterized in order to analyse hand-arm vibrations. A first classical modal analysis approach has been performed with a single point laser Doppler vibrometer for hand vibration analysis. Some preliminary measurements, made by a laser scanning vibrometer, are also illustrated. Comparisons with the classical modal analysis approach are discussed.
