Humic substances(HS)comprise a complex class of refractory organic macromolecules mainly derived from chemical and biological degradation of plant residues.Due to their extreme diversity,with a broad range of molecular weights and functional groups,many research efforts have been devoted to the elucidation of structural features of HS in soil,water and sediments.
