The behaviour of a gas-solid two-phase flow through a packed structure was studied both experimentally and by theoretical analysis. The experimental work determined the pressure drop and solids hold-ups, which, upon combined with the theoretical analysis gave the friction factor of the suspended phase. Effort was also made to develop correlations for the total solids hold-up and the friction factor. It was found that the correlation for the solids hold-up agreed well with experimental data, whereas the correlation for the friction factor showed a considerable deviation.
