A fast and efficient global optimal design technique based on the combination of the Response Surface Model (RSM) using improved Radial Basis Functions (RBFs) and the tabu search method is proposed. Computer simulation results on two different design problems are presented to demonstrate the efficiency and robustness as well as the advantage of the proposed algorithm for solving computationally heavy optimal design problems.
