A CFD study is performed to investigate fluid-surface interaction between rectangular-cylinder pairs in lower Reynolds number flows. A pair of the rectangular cylinders is placed with longer side walls in either parallel or perpendicular to the flow stream, referred to as parallel or perpendicular arrangement, respectively. The Reynolds is varied together with the ratio of the frontal width of each cylinder and the cylinder spacing to determine the effects of surface configuration and flow velocity on flow behavior. Both arrangement cases are treated and compared. Results obtained reveal variety of flow literature. The study has important applications in electric cooling, such as the design, manufacturing and packaging in meeting with the trend of nano-meterization of electronic components.
