The ability to determine the distance of an object by a camera is important in computer vision and robotics applications. Pentland[6] and Subbarao[7] proposed some algorithms for sensing scene depth by measuring the amount of defocusing images. These algorithms are available in theory, but in practical applications it's very difficult to get accurate results because they are very sensitive to noise. In this paper we have discussed a new method by measuring distance of an object in a scene from defocusing images by lenses. The major advantages of the given algorithm are to reduce the noise effect for measuring depth and to reduce the computation complex of the algorithm.
