This paper deals with our study of optimal design of large lighting systems with fluorescent lamps. Major problems in lighting systems with luminaries equipped by standard electromagnetic ballasts are inducted significant current and voltage oscillations. Those oscillations occur under normal operating conditions as a result of presence of good-quality resonant circuit formed by parasitic net inductance and compensation capacitors of luminaries. Current oscillations causes power loses and can cause malfunction of power grid. Our goal is to eliminate rise of these oscillations in both newly constructed and old systems. For analysis and verification of this problem we use mathematical model of lighting system and measurements on real systems.
