Reliability evaluation is an important part of reliability management. Standby redundancy is a technique that has been widely applied to improving system reliability and availability. A cold standby repairable system consisting of two components and one repairman is considered. Under an assumption that two components after repair are not 'as good as new', we first determine an optimal number of repairs of component 1, such that the long-run expected reward per unit time of the system is maximized. Then, using a geometric process, we derive the system reliability and availability.
