A new modal survey technique using video holography has been applied to the problem of a determining the resonant frequencies and associated mode shapes for a freely supported square plate. A test fixture was developed to Support the plate with a minimum of interference with the out of plane motions. The technique was very successful and the test results compared reasonably well with published analytical data.
