摘要

Interdecadal variability of climate has attracted more and more attentions by researchers. Enormous studies have been particularly paid to the interdecadal climate shift in the late 1970s. The shift exhibits global-scale variations in many aspects such as in sea surface temperature, upper-ocean heat content and winds in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans (Nitta and Yamada 1989; Kushnir 1994; Trenberth and Hurrel 1994; Ren and Huang 1999 and many others). The ENSO-like interdecadal variability may be considered as a coupled ocean-atmosphere mode of oscillations and has close relation with Indian Monsoon variability (Krishnamurthy and Goswami 2000).
