This paper shows the possibility and advantages of using strain signals as input data for strain modal. analysis in the time domain. As an illustration, the damped natural frequencies and corresponding strain mode shapes have been obtained from two experiments, one for a circular cylindrical tube and the other for a beam, by using the time domain method with strain measurement data. Both experimental results coincide well with the analytical results.
