This paper describes the current hygienic situation in public bathhouses in Baoshan district of Shanghai, using questionnaire and on-spot surveillance. The results show the microbe contamination of articles for customers' use is serious, and there are some defects in the functional design in some public bathhouses. An analysis of the results is made and advice is given on how to enhance health supervision.
