We have developed, for homes which are on constant internet access, a device which is equipped with the capability to deliver a message of a fire breaking out through various means including sound, light, vibration, odour, etc. as well as a function to instantly transmit the abnormality within a home to parties concerned through e-mails and to receive useful information on disaster prevention, etc. by text. With this device, fire warnings and disaster information can be efficiently conveyed to people with hearing difficulties. This device can be used not only in the collaborators network composed of a number of families and facilities including the person who needs care, but also with the LAN within a building at hotels and nursing care facilities. Having constant Internet access means the measures against computer viruses become particularly important. There are other points that need improvement, such as the printout capability and downsizing for practical application. We anticipate a feature to send emergency signals by remote control might be called for besides a pull-out switch and a push button. However, we would like to propose this device as one of the methods to offer to the disadvantaged people in case of disasters as a means to transmit and to provide information by utilizing the diffusion of the Internet.
