The rules, premises and outcomes that drive the decisions in the conduction of processes are often implicit in process flows, process activities or even tacit knowledge in the head of employees. However, the analysis and automation of decision processes should be made explicit in order to let computers analyse or execute business process models. The declarative modelling paradigm aims to directly express the business rules or constraints underlying a given process. The paradigm has gained momentum, and in recent years several declarative notations have emerged, including, a.o., Declare, Dynamic Condition Response (DCR) Graphs, Decision Modelling and Notation (DMN), and fragment-based Case Management (fCM). Recently, there has been a surge of interest in hybrid approaches, combining the strengths of declarative and procedural modelling paradigms.In the workshop on Declarative, Decision and Hybrid approaches to processes (DEC2H), we are interested in the application and challenges of decision- and rule-based modelling in all phases of the Business Process Management lifecycle: identification, discovery, analysis, redesign, implementation and monitoring.
