eClinic: A Web-based Plant Diagnostic Clinic Management and Reporting System

eClinic is a web-based database application for managing the Florida Extension Plant Disease Clinic. The system was developed to streamline internal management and tracking of plant diagnostic samples and provide a more efficient means for reporting diagnostic results to the grower. The eClinic application provides automatic tracking and notificanon to clinic technicians, pathologists, and support staff as samples require action in the diagnostic process. Once diagnosis is complete, the grower receives e-mail notification with a secure link to the final report. From there, the grower has access to current and past diagnostic reports. In addition to e-mail, the system also supports traditional reporting methods (FAX and posral mail). Grower privacy and security is maintained via secure encrypted password. The eClinic system supports multiple diagnostic clinics, and upstream reporting to state, regional, and national databases. Access to aggregated historical data is available to County Extension Agents and State Specialists lo support trend analysis and accountability reporting.
