An Ontology of Historical Official Titles

In this paper, we introduce an ontology of historical official titles (HOT), as part of the foundation of historical knowledge base. This ontology is quite useful in history teaching and language processing. The approach of constructing the HOT ontology is introduced. Using some particular relations acquired from concept analysis, the formal expression of complicated context relations and rich semantic relations has been defined, and the classification of HOT concepts has been obtained. To date, more than 5,000 concepts have been formalized, and 482 attributes and a series of categories have been defined.
