Evaluation of Bryozoan limestone properties based on in-situ and laboratory element tests

As part of the preparation for the Citytunnel project in Malmo southern Sweden, the Bryozoan limestone formation was investigated, a geological model was defined for this formation and its mass properties were derived for the design of a major cavern. This paper describes the methodology used for making the link between the geological model and the engineering properties of the limestone. It also describes the methodology used to derive mass strength properties from element and borehole scale testing.
