"Every field of endeavour, especially in engineering, is dynamic. What we taught today is discarded tomorrow. The problems don't change but our answers to them do change" Peter K. Aim of the paper is (1) to show why the current progress in information and communication technology changes the role of metrology in theory and practice (2) to explain how the traditional paradigm of measurements undergoes a fundamental change to Internet metrology (3) to list which selected advances in theory and practice of intelligent measurements are a reliable basis for the development of Internet metrology and (4) to elaborate which selected challenges in metrology must be tackled to mature the Internet Metrology. Internet Measurement and Self-Calibration [www.amctm.org/wpl.asp?tid=8] have analogous aims. They are a part of Internet Metrology. For easier handling most practical examples will be given for pressure sensors, instrumentation and measurements. But the basic messages are valid for any sensors, instrumentation and measurements.
