Mastitis caused by environmental micro-organisms is becoming more and more prominent in dairy cow farms all over the world (Schukken et al, 2005). This problem is particularly evident in farms that use organic bedding, because these environments are agreat source of nutrients and have the micro-environmental conditions which are suitable for the development of microbial populations in general and bacteria in particular.
