The effects of coastal reclamation on the distributions of surface suspended sediment and coastline changes at Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate (MPIE) on the NE coast of the Gulf of Thailand were conducted from 8 Landsat TM data from 1987 to 2000. With image density slicing method and false color composite technique, the distribution of surface suspended sediment were examined. The coastal reclamation had blocked the longshore sediment transport in each monsoon season. The concentration of sediment was higher in SW monsoon than in the NE monsoon season. The data extracted from the images in the third band were higher correlated to the distribution patterns of sediment than those obtained from the other bands. The mean correlation coefficient was 0.80. The 3 Landsat data (1988, 1994 and 2000) were used to study the shoreline changes by image difference method. The net area of western coastline of the MPIE was increased than the eastern coastline. The net area of eastern coastline was decreased than the western coastline. The accretion and erosion of the western coastline during 1988 to 2000 were estimated as 5,250 and 6,975 m~2/year, while that of the eastern coastline during the same period were 4,650 and 11,400 m~2/year respectively.
