We have investigated and compared the adhesive behavior characterized from force versus distance spectros-copy and from lateral friction force determination under AFM of antifouling perfluoro alcan layers deposited on silica. Thickness effects have put into evidence that these layers were formed of a first part firmly attached to the surface (by strong adsorption or chemical grafting) covered by a layer of non attached chains. This leads to the formation of a lubricated contact, which controls the friction an adhesive behavior.
