Electronics requirements for the Future Combat Systems (FSC) and Objective Force Warrior (OFW) will require reduced weight and power consumption. For smart munitions applications these needs must be coupled with the necessity for survivability at high G-loadings typical of weapons platforms that are of interest to the Army and the other military services. The goal of this research is to determine a suitably low encapsulant density while maintaining sufficient mechanical integrity and survivability of the encapsulant in providing protection of critical electrical components during extreme shock conditions.
