Conditions of underground coal production become essentially complicated making the problem of rock mass condition control extremely urgent. Most preferable methods are proved to be ones based on the rock mass condition and properties modification by way of its treatment with surfagents water solutions. Two generations of true triaxial cells are presented enabling to simulate any stress states arising in rock mass at depths up to 10 km on natural specimens including overcritical conditions corresponding to outbursts. It is shown experimentally that the coal saturation with methane facilitates the outburst while moinstening prevents it. Implementations of crack theory and NMR analysis for outburst and rock mass control are described.
