Filtration Properties of Discontinuities in Triaxial State of Stress

The study of filtration properties of rocks has the main importance during judgement of the filtration ability of the rock massif to leak gases or liquids. Permeability of rocks consists both of permeability of rock material mainly by presence of communicative pores and of cracks or the other discontinuities allowing filtration of different mediums. Discontinuities have the main share on liquid or gas filtration in rock massif in most cases. The influence of discontinuities on rock permeability in triaxial state of stress is presented in this paper. The triaxial state of stress allows to design stress state in which the rock is present in the rock massif. A set of shearing tests was applied on the tested material to obtain the various discontinuities in laboratory conditions. The results of roughness measurement and its influence on permeability are reviewed in the paper too.
