The low grade bauxite of Paduvari is an important occurrence in coastal Karnataka. The ore is of gibbsite type with iron minerals as impurities. The sink-float test is performed to study the response of gravity methods for beneficiation of this low grade ore. The results show that the sink-float test is effective in improving the grade of the bauxite of Paduvari at a relativity coarser size fractions than the actual liberation of the minerals.
