Hydrogen adsorption properties in well-purified single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) and peapods (C_(60)@SWNTs) were analyzed and it was elucidated that hydrogen is physisorbed in inter-tube pores. The adsorption potential of the inter-tube pore was determined to be about -0.21 eV, and this large adsorption potential induces the hydrogen physisorph'on at room temperature.
