摘要

The design and certification of aircraft engine nacelle fire zone ventilation systems has traditionally been driven by practical demonstration - an expensive and imprecise route. Recent advances in computational power coupled with the extensive use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) modelling within Rolls-Royce have opened up the possibility of the accurate flow modelling of these large and complex systems. Over the past four years, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques have been applied to large engine fire zones with success. This work has involved the use of software and advanced computer platforms to the limit of their capability.
