As small impacts may have a large influence on the mechanical behaviour of a composite structure, it is therefore very important to be able to detect and characterize damage to predict the part's remaining life. A large amount of work has been already done in damage detection using different measurement techniques such as C-scans, thermography, shearography, holography, digital correlation and thermoelasticity. The novelty of this work is to broaden the choice of non-destructive evaluation (NDE) techniques for damage detection in layered composite materials.
