Continuously reusing existing product information throughout the entire product lifecycle is a key of success for efficient product development. The design phase is an important starting point and already provides a concrete product definition and additional documents as basis for process planning. Incompatible, inconsistent or incomplete product data representation and data structures which cannot be interpreted automatically by computers enforce manual adoption of existing information in different context-dependent application systems. Starting at the design phase, feature modelling is an approach to provide high-level data structures and interpretable product models which can be reused efficiently, extended continuously and interpreted automatically. The ISO 10303 is a standardfor the product data exchange and representation and provides application reference models for creating consistent and complete product models in specific application contexts for different branches. This paper gives an overview of our developed solution for generative process planning for machining parts directly from an ISO 10303 standardized feature based design model and details the design module and collaboration approach for further processing.
