Long-term Outcome of Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy in Patients with Heart Failure and Ventricular Conduction Delay

Biventricular synchronous pacing was performed in 20 patients with drug-refractory heart failure and CLBBB to assess the effect of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). Serial LVEF, NYHA class of heart function and 6-minute hall walk (6MHW) were evaluated before and after up to 36 months of pacing. NYHA class reduced dramatically by 1.32. LVEF increased gradually during follow up. 6MHW improved steadily from 398+-168 m to 506+-134 m. Thus, CRT produces a long-term improvement in the clinical symptoms, exercise tolerance and heart function of patients with HF and ventricular conduction delay.
