SiO_2Cr_2O_3 pillared Argentinian montmorillonites were prepared by intercalation of oligosilsesquioxanes doped with Cr(III) ions. The basal spacing developed by intercalated materials was 17.0 A. After calcination at 500°C a broad, low intensity 001 line at 15.30 A was observed showing that long-range ordering along the c axis was loss. However a fraction of the material was still expanded as shown by the specific surface area of 200 m~2/g measured under this conditions.
