In this paper, it is tried to emphasis the complete behaviours of treated weak subsoil with granular materials in the form of piles and replacement of subsoil by granular mass. Design procedures of foundations for both system of treated subsoil are also dealt with in brief. Moreover, the paper covers both model study and field observations in the practice. Rational remedial measures are suggested as an alternative to the costlier method of construction of granular piles by Vibroflotation technique such that the poor economic condition of the builders may allow such sustainable method to adopt in reality. Manually rammed granular piles, which approximately equalises the same status that is constructed by the Vibroflotation. Present study also proclaims that there is appreciable reduction of settlement and increase in bearing capacity over the untreated weak subsoil, revealed under various conditions. Group action of piles under identical situation can reduce the settlement in a range from 35% to 40%. Similarly, studies of subsoil replacement technique for skirted foundation reveals 2.4 to 4.3 times increase in bearing capacity and 48 to 60% reduction in ultimate settlement.
