On the base of strength parameter of two expansive soils with varying degrees of saturation, the generalized effective stress (G.E.S.) is calculated for compression test. The results show that compression curves can be normalized by generalized effective stress, and swelling pressure can reflect change of generalized suction. For the more, G.E.S. to be regarded as quasi-preconsolidation pressure, generalized OCR is calculated for two expansive soils to varying degrees of saturation and OCR, and for subgrade soils disturbed and undisturbed, saturated and unsaturated. The results show that as generalized O.C. soils, they have a same law of undrained strength.
