A numerical solution is obtained for fully flooded isothermal elastohydrodynamically lubricated finite line contact including surface roughness effect (Patir-Cheng flow model). It is observed that the maximum pressure and minimum film thickness appears along the edges of the cylindrical roller, which cannot be predicted by infinite line contact analysis (1D). A significant difference in the film thickness results of finite and infinite contact are reported, particularly for lower values of hydrodynamic roughness parameter Λ. Based on the numerically evaluated data, curve fitted relations for central and central minimum film thicknesses are developed by using a non-linear least square technique.
