Challenges in Processing Full-scale Data Associated with a Low-rise Building

Full-scale monitoring of structures involves the collection, storage and processing of a large quantity of data. Although these records are a very important resource for the understanding of wind load characteristics, the interpretation of the information associated with individual events can be particularly challenging. Data derived from an intensive observation on a low-rise building in Southern Shores, North Carolina, are currently being studied by the authors. A comprehensive measurement system was installed at this location, involving the collection of wind speed and pressure over significant areas of the exterior, along with other meteorological quantities (barometric pressure, rainfall), strain and displacements at selected locations of the structural frame. Findings and observations from recent analyses are presented in this paper.
