In-process temperature measurements with thin-film sensors integrated in a grinding wheel were performed during grinding for the first time. So far the lack of reproducibility of the sensor-sensitivity and disturbances of the sensors are a drawback. These will be the fields of further work. In conclusion a first step towards an in-process temperature measurement has successfully been taken which could enable a temperature controlled grinding process in the future.
