摘要

High frequency excitation and large structures usually imply impossibly large computer models. To reduce the model size, this study proposes a merger of the standard finite element method with the more computationally efficient spectral finite element method. A plate structure is modelled with a newly developed waveguide spectral finite element, whereas smaller parts, with more complex geometry, are modelled with standard finite elements. Some numerical examples are given to illustrate and validate the developed method. An aircraft panel, excited by a turbulent boundary layer is modelled as a clamped-clamped plate with a stringer attached to it. A comparison with wind tunnel measurements is included.
