Integrating distributed knowledge management tools under a web-based user interface

The NOPIK project (IST-2001-33487) is in the process of developing an innovative approach to integrated information and knowledge management that uses an ontology-based graphical navigation paradigm to classify, store and retrieve a variety of heterogeneous resources and that allows users to create links between these resources and to annotate them to express relationships and record knowledge about them. The toolset of the project also includes a CBR (Case Based Reasoning) component to enable using the system in complex problem solving scenarios. Beside the two main components, an approach for performance measurement of KM tasks is discussed. This paper presents current results like the NOPIK system architecture, the implementations involving end-users, and future plans of the project.
