The Facilities Project for Changi Airport PMS is of a scale of a fivefold expansion of the original system, but again with cast in-situ structure for the new Guideways to give the flat, regular soffit of the original. Influencing PMS Stations design is the new Terminal 3 building it is to serve, which draws on the principles of clarity and openness that informed design of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The methodology that then links the approach of good design and comprehensive planning of construction is the application of systems thinking - with the design of Facilities Project guided by the overall sense of clarity for passengers, and in construction, that no passenger of the airport (including its existing PMS) is to be significantly affected. Application of systems’ thinking is to ensure the yield of the highest possible value of the PMS Facilities Project to airport users.
